Germany observed the 30th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 2019.  In Trinidad and Tobago the occasion was commemorated with a week of events bringing together artists, students and civil society to explore themes of working together for peace and stability. Students at Belmont Secondary School created a mural focusing on some of the physical and social barriers in their own lives. Another key event was the hosting of a Civil Society meeting in collaboration with UNHCR, focusing on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local and migrant women who are survivors of Intimate Partner Violence or are at risk of exploitation at work.

On November 9 there was a screening of the award winning The Lives of Others at the Big Black Box, with testimonials from persons who were in Berlin 30 years ago when the Wall came down.
